                    Tayasu-mon Gate, Kitanomaru National Garden, Tokyo
                                   mon = gate

  Kitanomaru National Garden was originally the location of the northern section of Edo Castle.
  Edo is Tokyo's old name. (The name changed from Edo to Tokyo in 1868.)
  Edo Castle is now the Imperial Palace and national gardens.
  It is not known exactly when Tayasu-mon Gate was built, although it was already in existence in 1607.
  The present gate was re-constructed in 1636.
